Are you new to FORTE Implant Center?
Dental implant surgery typically takes place in three stages. In the first stage, our doctors will examine your status and determine the best position and if you are a candidate for dental implants. The second stage is the dental surgery, in which the implant posts are inserted. The third stage is when your implants will receive their permanent restoration (crown, partial, or denture).
To determine that you are an implant candidate, our staff will take digital x-rays and/or a cone beam CAT scan to find the ideal location for your implants. Our doctors will precisely locate the ideal position to ensure the success of your dental implants. Next, the doctor will determine if you have adequate bone density to receive dental implants.
After we have determined the precise location for the dental implants, we will place them during a brief surgery. You can visit our pre-op instructions page for directions to follow prior to dental surgery. During the surgery, our doctors will make a small hole to fit the width and length of the implant and then thread the implant into place.
If additional bone is required to stabilize the dental implant, it may be placed at this time or at a separate appointment prior to implant placement. Your doctor will explain this in detail as needed.
Dental implants heal from 3 to 9 months before permanent replacement teeth will be placed. In certain situations, if the bone is strong enough, teeth can be placed immediately. This is known as “Teeth-in-an-Hour,” “Immediate Loading,” “Teeth-by-Tonight,” “All-on-Four,” or “Teeth-in-a-Day.” Most cases take three months for the implants to heal and replacement teeth to be affixed. Dental implant surgery is not like traditional dental surgery. The dental implant has no nerve; it is placed into the bone and the bone grows around it, so the dental implant becomes part of your body. For your comfort, we have several sedation options available.
After your implants have healed, you will come in for the third stage, in which our doctors will place your permanent teeth. This may be a crown, partial, or denture, depending on your unique case. Once the teeth are secured, you can enjoy a full smile that feels, looks, and functions naturally.
Implant planning, surgery, and placement are highly predictable. Overall, dental implants have a 98% success rate. They are the first choice in tooth replacement and the standard for quality dental care.
